Why User Experience is So Important?

Nowadays industry is giving a lot more importance to User Experience (UX) to keep their users happy. Everybody, right from the business decision makers, marketing to product managers are focusing on an easy, intuitive and interactive User Interface (UI).  It has become a De-facto in product or service based industry. Before moving ahead let us define UX.

What is User Experience (UX)?
According to the International Organization for Standardization, User Experience can be defined as “person’s perceptions and responses resulting from the use and or anticipated use of a product, system or service”.

In simple terms UX is how a user feels while interacting with a digital product. That digital product could be a website or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for a software product. UX depends on many factors, some of them can be controlled by designers and developers while others are user preference. Some of these factors include:

  • Utility (How useful is the product)
  • Usability (How easily we can use it)
  • Appealing (Aesthetically attractive)
  • Engaging (How encouraging it is to use it again)

Why User Experience (UX) is critical?
The explosion of social media and smart devices have made the users/customers extremely sophisticated, elusive, and empowered. We are observing that the dynamics that govern the relationship between brands and customers is evolving. Customer’s overall experience with your product or service could greatly affect his / her buying decision. It will also decide whether he/she will come back again or look will look somewhere else next time.

In most cases every business has a web presence; in that case user experience of your websites play a critical role to attract your prospects and keep them engaged. Especially in a B2B environment the window to engage with the prospects is so small that you get just one chance to make the right impression. Our prospects have become so empowered that they quickly decide whether to stay on this site or look for something better. So the stakes with respect to a UX of your website is incredibly high.

Same is the case with your product’s interface. If the UX for the same is not impressive the chances of your prospects not buying the product is more. Every aspect of your product or system affects the user experience. Exact placement of buttons, font size or even the colors used in the UI affect the UX to a great extent. This means clever designing and fine-tuning of your UI should be an integral part of the product development. This will give you the power you need to positively impress your customers.

Final Thoughts:
You should always measure the user experience; it’s a smarter way to track how well you are doing. You can do this even for products which has not matured enough. It can help you in generating interest and loyalty even for those. Remember, a good UX can result in happy customers and referrals. Think of surprising your customers, and they won’t forget you.
