The Rise of Remote Collaboration During COVID-19

Let’s begin our informative and insightful journey – of discovering the 9 cloud solution areas that are shifting the cloud services paradigm in a never-before-contemplated age, thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In our first mini-blog of the series, we will be looking at the increasing proliferation of remote collaboration.

Integrated cloud-based platforms that remotely deliver and manage data and applications have been blessings for the large majority of professionals working from home today. Digital workspaces and digital collaboration platforms offer the perfect amalgamation of digital communication and collaboration, enabling employees to communicate with peers, access information, and manage workflows.

One of the most widely-used digital workspace platforms Microsoft Teams reported a new daily record of 2.7 billion meeting minutes in one day, a 200% increase from 900 million as of March 16, 2020. Companies are using Teams for collaborating online for work, attending virtual events, presenting dashboards, and training employees. Apart from corporates, teachers, and students are also connecting over Teams to continue educating and learning.

At the same time, digital collaboration platforms like Slack are facilitating employees to collaborate digitally – just as seamlessly as in-person. Slack reported more than 9,000 new paid customers last month which is more than what they used to get in a quarter together.

The Work From Home model seems here to stay, and so do these tools. Employees can communicate, share ideas and files through such cloud-based collaborative tools, allowing them to stay connected and work remotely, even as they maintain social distancing post lockdown.
