ADVA Optical Networking Enters Into Agreement to Acquire MRV Communications, Inc.

ADVA Optical Networking (FSE: ADV) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MRV Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC). Under the terms of the agreement, ADVA Optical Networking will make a tender offer of USD 10.00 per share for all the outstanding common stock of the California-based provider of innovative network solutions for data center operators, service providers and enterprises. The offer equates to an aggregate purchase price of USD 69 million and has been approved and unanimously recommended by both the board of directors of ADVA Optical Networking and the board of directors of MRV Communications, Inc.

Fastly raises another $50 million for its content delivery networking technology

Content delivery company Fastly has raised $50 million in financing to expand its footprint as a corporate supplier of speedy application, website, and web service delivery.

In its press release, Fastly calls its service an “edge cloud platform”, which is a fantastic mix of nonsense and meaningless garbage that I’m going to refuse to use (seriously, Bateman Group, that is a hot-trash mix of word salad).

Extreme Expects 10,000 New Enterprise Customers from Its Acquisitions

During Extreme Networks’ third quarter 2017 earnings call yesterday, company executives enthused about all the new customers they’re going to pick up after Extreme closes on its acquisitions of assets from Avaya and Brocade. Those assets combined with assets it recently acquired from Zebra Technologies will result in more than 10,000 new enterprise customers, said Ed Meyercord, president and CEO of Extreme Networks, in the company’s earnings call.

Intel announced it’s pulling the plug on its 20-year-old Intel Developer Forum (IDF). The annual conference seemed to have lost its original identity as a place to discuss Intel’s latest microprocessor technology. A message on the IDF page said, “Intel has evolved its event portfolio and decided to retire the IDF program moving forward.”

Cloudera Could Raise $242 Million In Upcoming IPO

In preparation for its initial public offering (IPO), big data analytics firm Cloudera yesterday priced its offering at $12 to $14 per share, giving the company a market capitalization of $1.79 billion. The company is planning to sell 17.3 million shares and could possibly raise as much as $242.2 million from the offering.
